Dom Antonius Maertens was onderpastoor te Heist van 1885 tot 1897. Hij werd geboren te Brugge op 30 juli 1859. Hij werd priester gewijd te Brugge in 1885 en werd aanvaard in de abdij van St. Benedictus te Maredsous in 1897. Hij overleed op 20 febr. 1909.
